Hi, my name is Darrick, and I am the owner of ECOMAIDS of Raleigh. I just want to take a second and tell you how our cleaning service was started. ECOMAIDS was started in late 2009. I was originally a researcher in RTP and had just been laid off in the summer of 2009. After looking for employment for several months it soon became apparent that it was going to be some time before I found a job and that relocation was likely. With kids in school, a wife with a steady job, and living in the beautiful town of Cary- I definitely did not want to relocate. I had always talked about owning my own business, and I believe everything happens for a reason, so maybe this was the time to start one.
To be honest starting up a cleaning service was not high on my list of ideas. In fact I did not even consider in at first. I concentrated on business ideas close to what I had done in the pharmaceutical industry. Eventually I did start to think about starting up a small local business. Having had a cleaning service myself, I knew quality could be inconsistent, and I really did not like the bleach-like smell that my house inevitably smelled like on our cleaning day. After some research I learned that there is a need for cleaning services, particularly green cleaning service with an emphasis on quality and customer service.
So I made the leap into the cleaning industry. It was a big change from what I was used to, it took a little while to learn what I was doing. To those that used our service those first few months and were disappointed I would just like to apologize and let you know that we are light years beyond where we were then. To those that stuck with us from the beginning a huge thank you- we would not be here without you. Since we have started there have been days I literally cried, and there have been days that were extremely rewarding. Thankfully we have had far more rewarding days, and I believe there are many more just over the horizon.
